The space frame chassis is a lightweight, high-strength structure made of interconnected tubular members, designed to efficiently distribute loads. Compared to a monocoque chassis, which relies on a single rigid shell for strength, the space frame offers easier manufacturing and repair while maintaining excellent stiffness-to-weight performance. However, monocoques provide higher overall rigidity and are often preferred in high-performance applications despite their complex production.
In 2023, during my time at Azhar Racing Team (ART) as a chassis designer, I designed this space frame chassis using the SOLIDWORKS Weldments Module.
The goal was to create a strong yet lightweight structure, optimizing the tube layout for load distribution and manufacturability.
