I'm thrilled to share the general arrangement of my latest and largest model to date: a Six Cylinder Radial Steam Engine with Side Valves.
This project was a deep dive into complex mechanical systems, combining radial engine architecture with side valve mechanisms.
Throughout the modeling process, I gained hands-on experience with:
- Component synchronization and timing
- Crankshaft and connecting rod dynamics
- Valve actuation and control mechanisms
- Assembly constraints and functional clearances
The model demanded detailed attention to internal relationships between components, precise motion planning, and optimization for manufacturability and serviceability.
Working on this engine has been a significant learning journey, enhancing both my technical CAD skills and my understanding of dynamic mechanical systems.
