This Monday we have a very simple but powerful mechanism, similar to a plier.
Plier: A tool made of two crossed pieces of metal with handles, that is used for holding things firmly and for cutting wire.
Now you must be wondering, how much powerful is this mechanism?
No need to go anywhere. You can find that out without leaving the Platform. You may use any of the following workflow
| Workflow | Web App | Native App |
| Create Parts | xDesign | Part Design |
| Create Assembly | xDesign | Assembly Design |
| Create Mechanism | xDesign | Mechanical System Design |
| Motion Simulation | xDesign | Mechanical System Design |
| Add Dynamic Elements | Mechanical System Design | |
| Dynamic Analysis | Mechanical System Experience |
Result:
When 1 N force is applied at the handle, at equilibrium the force applied by the jaw is approximately 30 N.
So, Mechanical advantage = 30/1 = 30
To play with it, download the 3DXML file and give your own touch to this Mechanisms and do not forget to share!
