Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL), a leading stainless steel manufacturer in India, is using Dassault Systèmes’ solutions to strengthen its production planning, scheduling, and execution processes to better meet customer demand.
Having recently expanded its production capacity to 2.9 million tons of steel per year across two facilities, JSL is adopting an integrated and fully automated approach to efficiently manage its entire production process.
Stainless steel manufacturing is a complex, made-to-order process. To reliably meet customer targets, JSL needs flexible and transparent methods to plan and use resources effectively. They are also requiring real-time information from the shop floor to balance capacity, make accurate predictions, and maintain high-quality standards.
JSL is implementing Dassault Systèmes’ “Operations Planning and Scheduling Excellence” solution, based on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform with DELMIA applications, to optimize these processes virtually. This is helping JSL reduce costs, improve efficiency, shorten lead times by 10%-15%, and lower work-in-progress inventory by 8%-10%.
Through this implementation, JSL is aiming to strengthen its position in key sectors like automotive and infrastructure while expanding into lifestyle, aerospace, and defense sectors sustainably. By using virtual twin experiences, JSL is minimizing its carbon footprint by reducing product diversions and quality rejections.
Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director of JSL, is describing this move as a bold step towards replacing old legacy systems with new digitalization and automation models.
“A few years ago, we were the first organization in the Indian stainless steel industry to digitize the entire customer journey with us. Now, we are working towards 360 degree integration of different operational technologies with real-time dashboards to enable faster decision-making. This aligns with our vision to diversify, expand, and drive long-term growth and innovation in stainless steel. The DELMIA Quintiq and Apriso deployment is a key enabler for us in this journey.”
“Dassault Systèmes’ solutions support the sustainable production of steel by innovative customers like Jindal Stainless Limited,” said Corinne Bulota, Vice President, Infrastructure, Energy and Materials Industry, Dassault Systèmes.
“By using our industry solution experiences and DELMIA Quintiq and Apriso applications, Jindal Stainless benefits from a single source of truth that brings real-time visibility, simulation and optimization capabilities. The virtual twin experience of Jindal Stainless’ production systems helps Jindal Stainless improve operational efficiency and product quality significantly, and facilitates data-driven, fast decisions for the decarbonization of steelmaking.”
