How to define XFEM along with CZM?

Hello all,

We have a query from one of our student:


My name is Shubham Mishra, I'm from Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering. We have a 3D experience excellence center. I'm working with Simulia on a project. 

I'm facing difficulty with XFEM-CZM analysis. 

The first stage of work is modelled with pure CZM using cohesive elements. This is successfully done with the help of Abaqus benchmark manual.

Now I'm trying to compare it with XFEM based CZM. In this stage, since XFEM can't be applied on COH2D4 elements, I used CPE4R elements. But the cohesive section (traction separation response) can't be applied to CPE4R elements. It gives an error of missing property. 

Q-1: So, which section should be used here?


To resolve this error, I used a homogeneous solid section. Now the elastic traction property can't be applied. 

Q-2: So, Is it ok to define it as Isotropic elastic property? 


Applying homogenous section and isotropic elastic properties does resolve the error. But then it's not Cohesive law applied. 


Q-3: How to define XFEM along with CZM?
