#GECTRON - E Scooter | #POTY2021

Introduction
The rise in demand and constant increase in the cost of petrol and diesel has been ruling India for ages. Society needs a non-negotiable solution. Electric vehicles are a breakthrough solution in the automotive industry, which can overcome the above problems. Electric two-wheelers are noiseless, pollution-free, and electrically driven. E-scooter is designed with a frame that is light in weight when compared to a conventional scooter for improving efficiency and performance. We are introducing our “GECTRON” which satisfies all the requirements mentioned above.

INNOVATIONS
Obstacle Detection and Assistive Braking.
This system is a safety measure for two-wheelers to avoid accidents and damages caused due to carelessness and fatigue. It also increases the efficiency and range of the vehicle. 
In this accident avoidance system, we use a LIDAR to measure the distance with the objects coming in front. The LIDAR activates regenerative braking when obstacles are detected. The system is very simple and very cost-efficient. It ensures driver safety as well as vehicle safety and increases energy efficiency. 

Working
The LIDAR system works on the principle of laser transmission. The LIDAR system consists of a transmitter and receiver; an output voltage is produced when the reflected light is absorbed by the receiver. The voltage value is converted into the distance terms by programming in the raspberry pi. A limiting distance of 5m is set in the pi, below which the pi generates a signal, which alarms the driver about pedestrians. When the distance decreases below 3m, the system activates regenerative braking and alarms the driver with a buzzer sound. This motor regeneration acts as braking and reduces vehicle speed. Based on the distance of the obstacle the regenerative torque produced also varies, when the object is nearer to the vehicle more regenerative torque is produced.

The Lidar and regenerative braking system together improve the braking efficiency, energy efficiency, and safety of the vehicle in a coordinated way. This innovation will be highly appreciated by the customers as efficiency and safety are the most needed aspects of technology in the modern world.
