Here is what simulation expert Randy Marlow has to say: "The top bar of the ladder which hits the ground falls faster than the top bar on the ladder which does not. This is indicated both in the animation of the ladders and in the animation of the plots of the vertical positions. The red curve is the vertical position of the c.g. of the top bar of the ladder which hits the ground."
