Development of Full Car Passive Suspension System using CATIA Dymola Behavior Modeling

Hello everyone!

I, Nilay Pedram along with my groupmates Nishant Markad and Sakshi Patil students of Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, Pune, have designed and developed a Full Car Model for Passive Suspension System.

The details of the project are mentioned below:

A good suspension system should have satisfactory road holding ability, while still providing comfort when riding over bumps and holes in the road. The goal of this project was to design and analyse the dynamic behaviour of a model for Full Car Passive Suspension System. Basic vehicle suspension parameters such as body displacement, body acceleration, wheel deflection, etc. were captured using this model. The ride comfort and vehicle handling determine the suspension system’s performance and vehicle body displacement and wheel deflection performance can be used to measure it.

This project was performed using Dymola Behaviour Modelling App on 3D EXPEREINCE platform. The library used was Modelica Standard Library. Before undertaking this project, we have completed few courses on the 3DS platform namely CATIA Dymola Behaviour Modelling Essentials and Practice CATIA Dymola Behaviour Modelling. (Link for the learning are attached)

In full car model, total weights of the car body as well as the passengers are considered, and four wheels were taken for analysis. The pitch and roll motions of the car were also taken into consideration. Model is a three-dimensional model which has a movement on Z direction. On full-car model vehicle pitch and roll motions can be simulated, different front and rear suspension system geometries can be modelled
