I am currently working on a project related to the design and development of a fully functioning Aero package (i.e. parts to guide and control the airflow of the car to gain performance like a front and rear wing, etc) for a FSAE spec vehicle, focusing on net Drag reduction and increase in downforce and stability, by controlling the airflow around, above and underneath the vehicle.
The adaptive Hex-dominant mesh really helps to bring out the exact model shape through to the simulation window, as the mesh at the critical parts, regions is made more refined compared to the intermediate regions. I have experienced that for the initial iterations to check the flow, the Realizable k-Epsilon turbulence model is the best, we get the simulation based aero-maps which can be used to further improve the model and proceed with the project.
I will keep posting the new learnings and the overall progress.
