Bringing 2D Diagrams to Life: Undergrad Students Create Moving 3D Mechanisms

Turning static 2D diagrams into dynamic 3D models can help students better understand how mechanisms work and how they interact with each other, making learning more immersive and enjoyable.

Here is some work (Art) done by undergraduate students. By adding motion to these models, the students have transformed them into majestic moving mechanisms that are not only visually impressive but also provide a more immersive learning experience.

The process of turning 2D diagrams into 3D models requires a combination of technical skills and artistic creativity. The students used the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to create 3D models of mechanisms from their textbooks. They then added motion to the models to simulate how the mechanisms work in real life.

The end result is a series of mesmerizing 3D animations that bring complex mechanisms to life. These moving models help students better understand how the mechanisms work, how they interact with other parts, and how they can be applied in different real-world scenarios.
