Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE Platform on the Cloud Selected by Mahindra & Mahindra as It Accelerates Its Digital Transformation
Dassault Systèmes announced (June 20, 2024) that Mahindra & Mahindra, a leader in automotive, farm and services businesses in India, is advancing its digital transformation by selecting Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the cloud to accelerate its end-to-end new product development process.
Mahindra & Mahindra’s strategic decision to adopt the 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the cloud for its future auto programs will enable it to improve the efficiency of its process and reduce the time to market of safer and more sustainable vehicles.
Mahindra & Mahindra will use the “Drive Emotion,” “Global Modular Architecture,” and “Smart Safe and Connected” industry solution experiences based on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to connect thousands of users – employees and suppliers – in one virtual environment empowering collaboration and innovation. By working on the cloud, teams can quickly adopt industry best practices, collaborate seamlessly, and access real-time information. This ensures enhanced visibility and facilitates informed decision-making across product planning, design, engineering, strategic sourcing, and digital manufacturing domains.
“We wanted high-performance technology that would enable us to launch innovative vehicles faster and fulfill our sustainability ambitions. With Dassault Systèmes’ expertise and 3DEXPERIENCE platform, we can deepen collaboration, and expedite problem identification and resolution, leading to streamlining new vehicle launch timelines,” said Rucha Nanavati, CIO, Mahindra & Mahindra.
“Mahindra & Mahindra has a long-standing partnership with Dassault Systèmes and they continue to put their trust in our solutions to develop the next generation of their vehicles,” said Laurence Montanari, Vice President, Transportation & Mobility Industry, Dassault Systèmes. “Vehicle development is complexifying every day due to regulations. Our 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the cloud addresses this complexity. Our work with Mahindra & Mahindra demonstrates the maturity of our cloud technology and solutions for automotive sector challenges.”
More than 2 decades of relationship with Mahindra & Mahindra...
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. has been using SIMULIA applications at Mahindra Research Valley (MRV), Tamil Nadu to meet safety regulations, emission norms, reduce costs, improve fuel efficiency and achieve a faster time to market of vehicles. These applications include PowerFLOW Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) solutions, Abaqus Unified FEA and CST Studio Suite. Mahindra & Mahindra uses these solutions to transform its vehicle design process and improve efficiency across the product development lifecycle for its portfolio of passenger vehicles, farm and tractor division and electric vehicles.
Dassault Systèmes’ SIMULIA applications enables engineers and R&D teams at MRV to enhance its engineering simulations and accurately predict real world conditions. It helps evaluate product performance and identifies potential flaws, early in the design process prior to building physical prototypes. The solutions virtually validate the vehicle performance, and optimize vehicle quality, durability and experience. With the performance trade-off analysis, simulation applications are helping MRV engineering and R&D teams to produce automobiles that are sustainable and meet global standards.
The SIMULIA PowerFLOW CFD suite accurately and efficiently performs aerodynamic, aeroacoustics and thermal management simulations. Using the Abaqus Unified FEA, automotive companies can consider full vehicle loads, dynamic vibration, multibody systems, nonlinear static and thermal coupling for virtual testing. The CST Studio Suite – a 3D EM analysis software designs, analyzes and optimizes electromagnetic (EM) components and systems. It facilitates EM analysis like performance and placement of antennas, exposure to human body of EM field and EMI/EMC compliance that have become increasingly relevant.
At MRV, for all our vehicles’ design, development and production, we are driven by the vision to get it ‘first time right and every time right’. Our long-term partner, Dassault Systemes’ digital simulation-based approach are valuable in this regard allowing for upfront simulation at the early-design stage when there is more flexibility for change. Further in the product development process, the realistic simulation solutions are used for virtual validation, giving us higher confidence before a regulatory test” said Sitarameswara Sarma Akella, Vice President- Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited. “Our R&D centers in India and US extensively used Dassault Systemes’ simulation technologies on the cloud enabling remote collaboration on important projects during the pandemic.”
Mahindra also owns the Automobili Pininfarina GmbH, a luxury electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer headquartered in Munich, Germany, with roots in the Italian car design firm and coachbuilder Pininfarina SpA.
The Sergio Concept, the show car dedicated to Sergio Pininfarina developed in just six months using the 3DEXPERIENCE platform by Dassault Systèmes, 2013.
