Hello everyone,
Manufacturing plans are well underway for what might be my fastest rocket build ever.
Overview
This is the model created using 3DX CATIA. This is approximately 95% completed, with only drill hole planning remaining. As you can see, this is essentially 2 rockets into 1. The upper stage will separate after approximately 3 seconds for launch, will coast for another 3 seconds, and then ignite its motors for 2.2 seconds. After updating the weights, it will travel to near 20,000 feet at Mach 1.5-1.6
Manufacturing
Metal, fiberglass, carbon fiber, & 3D prints are being cut practically every day. 3Dprints are made with CATIA, exported in STL and printed on a Bambu printer.
The sled that will hold the avionics bay in the nose cone and the interstage coupler are identical to reduce development and manufacturing time. Another sled will be printed soon, which will hold the 2 cameras in the nosecone as well.
Simple Engineering Drawings were made and exported via DXF for waterjet cutting on harder materials such as fiberglass and aluminium.
The result of these cuts and precise CAD modelling is a well-integrated dry fit.
These components will soon be epoxied, drilled, tapped, and bolted on to ensure structural integrity and ease of assembly/integration.
Planning
The Enovia project planning app is pinned to a dashboard to ensure my deadlines are met. Notifications are displayed to ensure no task goes unnoticed and that delays are kept to a minimum.
