- Business and Industry Innovation (PCS), which is a combination of:
- Business Innovation (IFW)
- Industry Innovation (CSV)
- Marketing Content Artist (XCA)
- Marketing Experience Artist (XAR)
3D model:
- A prepared product in .3dxml format
Skill set:
No specific skill set is required to perform a raw CGI with 3DEXPERIENCE platform. However, in order to obtain best results it’s recommended to have a background in professional photography or digital media production.
This document is intended for beginners on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and 3DEXCITE roles XCA and XAR, to create a CGI by following the steps described below.
1) Create your own collaborative space
- Select the north quadrant
- Launch "3DSpace" app
- Click the drop down icon
- Click “Create New Collaborative Space”. Set your preferences and click “Create”
2) Launch rich client
- Select west quadrant
- select “Rendering Scene Design” app. This will launch the rich client
3) Import 3D model from the rich client
- Check/Select your collaborative space (use drop down icon to change)
- Select “Add”
- Select “Import”
- Browse your files and select the 3D model in .3dxml format
- Press “OK”
4) Open your 3D model
- Right click on 3D object
- Select “Open”
5) Rename and save your 3D model
- Right click on tree root
- Select “Properties”
- Change title
- Press “Ok”
- Click “Save”
6) Edit material appearance
- Right click on the part you want to modify
- Select “Edit Material Appearance”
- From the “Appearance Properties” panel, you can adjust multiple parameters
e.g. Change “Diffuse Color”, press “OK” - Save
7) Define an ambience for your 3D model
- Select the north quadrant
- Launch “Ambience Studio” app
- Select the type of ambience you wish. e.g. “HDRI (default)”
- Press “Next”
- Select one of the default ambience. e.g. “studio_white_design_default”
- Press “Start”
8) Adjust your ambience parameters
- Select “Display 3D Object” from the taskbar
- Choose a 3D object from the drop down list. This will help you visualize changes effects
- Adjust lights parameters
- To save you ambience, press F3 to make appear the tree
- Right click on the title
- Select “Properties”. Change the title, press “OK”
- Save
9) Build your experience in Creative Experience to render a CGI
- Select the north quadrant
- Launch “Creative Experience” app
- Search your 3D model you want to render
- Use 6WTags to find it, from your collaborative space for example
- Once you find it, select your 3D model
- You can add a tag to find it more easily next time
- Click the drop down icon
- Select “Insert in Experience”
- Search your ambience and “Insert in in Experience” (By repeating points 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8)
- Close your search
10) Define and save the right camera angle
- Click the “Assemble” section from the taskbar
- Click drop down icon next to “Camera”
- Select “Create Camera”
- If you rotate your 3D model and wish to go back to camera, click “Go to Camera”
- If you wish to change your camera angle, rotate your 3D model and click “Apply current view”
You can define multiple camera angles if you wish to render different views.
11) Rename your experience and save it
- Right click on tree root
- Click “Rename”
- Save
12) Render CGI
- Click the “Rendering” section from the taskbar
- Adjust settings from “Setup Background”
- Click “Capture Image”
- Check to the progress of rendering and output from the “Monitor Background”
- Download your renderings from the “Monitor Background” window
At any time, you can adjust the parameters of the materials from the “Catia Rendering Scene Design” app, create or modify the ambience from the “Ambience Studio” app. Your experience will be then automatically updated with your latest changes.
You can insert in your experience multiple ambiences or objects and chose to activate or deactivates them according to your desired outcome.
