WHY: As soon as the world started making behavioral changes in their way people navigated public places in order to stop infection, creative thinkers at Solid Energy began putting their heads together. Inspired by Materialize's idea of an extension to open doors without using your hands, they added their own expertise to re-design Materialize's solution so that it can be applied to different types of handles.

Simplicity of design is the key here.

The great advantage of using additive manufacturing is that it can help reduce the number of components in a design. This design gives us a ready-to-use object that does not require the use of screws or bolts, which are anyways difficult to source in this period of limited supply and soaring demand.
