3d printed respirator (Non-Invasive Ventilation)

WHY: As part of a mobilization against the spread of the coronavirus in France as well as in African countries, a consortium was formed to develop a 3D printed respirator for respiratory failure caused in 15% of patients with Covid-19

WHAT This unit offers functional versatility in its use thanks to three operating options. The first option is to use only the mask with its filter as a protective mask against COVID-19. Option 2 allows oxygenation of the patient by means of a venturi oxygen mask (different venturis are available). Option 3 presents the full face mask for non-invasive ventilation.

We have opted for a ventilator in 3D printing for non-invasive ventilation in case of acute respiratory failure. With the help of 3DEXPERIENCE platform, these devices have been improved and simulated before printing, a simulation cell has also been set up in order to anticipate potential failures and conduct predictive studies. We propose in our approach a duplication of the device in the different countries of the world concerned by the COVID19  by the deployment of 3D printing according to a manufacturing method provided by the consortium in Open Source.

HOW : Based on the experience of DITEX, TECH3D and Polytechnic Engineering School in additive manufacturing, the device is under test.
