I created a simple weldment in Solidworks and now I want to add 1/4-20 tapped holes. I added them to the first tube and I can simply add them to the second tube but I would rather they just be the same tube Qty 2. 

My go to move now would be to remove those tubes from the weldment and make them individual parts and add them back to the assembly. Then I get my one part with a qty of 2. I would rather figure out how to do this with a weldment. 

Does this make sense? What am I missing?
