We are running Solidworks 2024 PDM Standard with a PDM Folder structure like this:
Vault (Root)
----->Projects (where project parts and assemblies are stored. Each project has it's own folder)
----->Standards (sheet formats, part and assembly templates, material libraries, etc)
----->Standard Parts (hardware and standard parts we use all of the time)
The "Standards" and "Standard Parts" are easy to control. Only the Admin and one Group (managers) have rights to add or delete files and directories
HOWEVER, in "Projects" all of the users have rights to make directories and sub directories. This is a hold over from when we had only 3 users. Now that we have 10 and this has obviously led to to chaos with users making directories that shouldn't exist or should sub-directories in existing folders.
We would like to make it so that only the Managers group can make a sub-directory in the "Projects" folder. But I would like to allow ALL users to be able to make a directory in that sub-directory. Think of it this way, the group manager makes the job directory in the "Projects" folder. They are the only one that can do that. But all users can add a sub-directory to that job directory.
Can this be done with PDM Standard? My research says "no" but I wanted to see if anyone here has a solution.
