CAD file revision does not match PDM variable

I have a CAD workflow that moves with a prototype loop and production loop.  There is a PDM variable "Revision" that is numeric in the prototype states then letters in the production states that maps to the CAD properties.  When I change state from "Prototype Released" to "Production Design", in PDM the revision changes from "1" to "A".  This is what I expect.  My problem occurs when I checkout the file.  In Solidworks the file properties and PDM data card indicate the revision is "1".  I look at the PDM client view in file explorer and the table and data card shows the "Revision" variable is "A".

I'm on PDM Pro 2024 (V 32.50.0050) and Solidwork 2024, SP5.0.

Our SW reseller has looked into the issue and they were stumped.  We tried several things and the misbehavior always occurred.  I'm able to correct it in the open SW files and continue through the workflow but it is annoying and not the way I feel it should work.

Has anyone else seen this and how did you fix it?
