The Velizy Fablab is equiped with a lot of cool machines, part of it is a big 3Axis Mecanumeric (Mecafab 2513).
Unfortunately the default vacuum is totaly unefficient, so machining wood is a hell of dust and chips all over the room.
As we are also equiped with a very efficient vacuum offering a 12cm pipe, I designed and fabricated a new vacuum system adapted to the machine.
Here is the setup in action, as you can see: no dust nor chips !
This system is of course removable to ease the tools installation.
Back to the proces, the first step is of course the Design and for that I used my prefered tool 3DX CATIA.
I got a sheet metal cutting by a supplier as we are not yet equiped with a metal cutting machine, this part is replacing the basic system of the machine to enable my setup to be plugged/unplugged.
Then I printed all the pipe connector and accessories using our Formlabs Fuse 1 to get a strong part as it's a bit stressed by the pipe during travels.
I milled the main board using the milling machine, this part is 10mm thick and made of ABS plastic
I printed the Brush adaptator using our Bambulab (red part) in 2 pieces as the size is too big.
Here is the set of parts that are ready to be assembled using simple screws. The brush is a standard one of 100mm long, suitable to contain the milling zone and then be very efficient to vacuum everything.
So this system takes place using the specific sheetmetal, there is a pocket on the plack plate where this part takes place, the full system is simply maintain using a small plate on the front and 2 rotative latches on the back tightened with custom nuts,

And "voila" !
