Apparently I have a penchant for the "boring but necessary" projects . . . this one is no different.
Our dining room chairs have slim, rectangular, tubular legs that have little plastic inserts that would work great on hard floors.
They do not work very well on carpet, in fact, it is extremely difficult to move the chairs - something needed to be done!
There are flexible rubber/plastic 'glides' that are made to slip over larger square (and round) chair legs, which would have been great, but our chair legs are rectangular.
Time to fire up SOLIDWORKS Design and warm up the Bambu printer!
I started by creating the shape to fit into the glides that we bought, and then cut away for the tubular legs. I even added a detail with ridges for inside the tubular leg to help lock the piece in place.
They look great attached to the end of the chair leg, and it would have been nice to keep it like this, but it didn't slide across the carpet very well.
This is what it looks like with the slider installed. (Not nearly as 'pretty' but the chairs slide across the carpet with very little effort!)
First 16 adapters are already printed and installed, and the second 16 are printing right now.
Another fun little project almost finished!
