[EVENT REPORT] Tag des Deutschen Systems Engineering (TdSE ) in Salzburg Oct 29-31

Last week, our MSBE team from Germany @MH & @AT ), together with our dear WW Team colleagues @AM @YH @D @TK @MN and @FHthe  as Sales representative, attended this year’s TdSE in Salzburg, Austria.
The "Tag des Systems Engineering" (TdSE) is the leading conference for systems engineering in the German-speaking region. It’s a key event that brings together MBSE enthusiasts from various sectors, including industry, research & universities and partners.

Our Contributions

We had one of the most active years at this TdSE, with four contributions in the official conference program. These included:

  • Guide to SEREA (Systems Engineering Reference Enterprise Architecture) – Tutorial by @TK
  • Application of SysML v2 in the Scope of the Magic Grid Framework – Tutorial by  @YH & @AM
  • Realizing Multidisciplinary Verification: Synchronizing System Architecture and Electrical Simulation Domains – Presentation by @MH
  • Getting Functional Requirements Right with Simulation: Requirements-in-the-Loop (RIL) for Systems Engineering – Presentation by @DD/a>

All sessions were well received and led to follow-up discussions at our booth, often on very concrete technical and methodological questions.

Here are some impressions of our sessions:

We had a lot of traffic at our booth over the three days.

Here are a few highlights from the booth discussions and the event overall:

SysML v2

We demonstrated our latest SysML v2 features (release 26x). Since we no longer had restrictions from R&D on communicating the SysML v2 capabilities, we were able to openly showcase the new features of both the textual and graphical notations in more detail.

Beyond the technical features themselves, many conversations focused on the broader value of SysML v2 compared to SysML v1. In this context, migration strategies from v1 to v2 for ongoing projects were a recurring subject and clearly an area where many organizations are seeking guidance.

We also had very positive discussions with researchers and university professors who are already interested in using CATIA Magic to teach SysML v2 in their MBSE courses. This was encouraging to see, as it reflects the growing trend towards preparing future systems engineers with skills aligned to the evolving standard.

AI in MBSE

As expected, AI was a central topic throughout the conference. It was particularly interesting to see how different vendors and partners are approaching AI use cases in MBSE. It was especially interesting to see various in-house AI solutions, mainly from system integrator partners, being integrated with SysML.

We showcased our current AI assistant capabilities in CATIA Magic for the first time, and it was clear that many visitors were not yet aware of these features. The feedback was very positive, especially regarding the possibility to extend the out-of-the-box prompts for AI suggestions of AI Assistant with customer-specific prompts, which increases the flexibility and adaptability of the AI assistant in CATIA Magic.

In case you’re interested, here’s a short demo we created around this topic for our booth:

Most participants agreed that an iterative process, where the AI provides suggestions and the system architect remains the final decision maker, seems to be the most realistic and valuable approach. Fully automated modeling, on the other hand, is still viewed with caution.

Digital Continuity & Traceability Across Disciplines

Even though the TdSE is traditionally very focused on MBSE authoring tools and methods for system architecture, we had several visitors explicitly asking about the bigger picture: how the system architecture becomes integrated with domain-specific assets from software, hardware, and E/E when using a PLM environment such as our 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

In response to this interest, we ran several short live demos of our T&M Playground at the booth, showing how system models from CATIA Magic are managed and leveraged in governance processes such as traceability and change or issue management.

It was encouraging to see that even system architects who use CATIA Magic on a daily basis are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of governance and cross-domain integration. The growing focus on digital continuity beyond the architecture model itself was clearly noticeable this year.

A Moment of Team Spirit

Last but not least, a personal highlight for me was our little surprise to congratulate @DEDa> on his recent wedding. Big thanks to the whole team in Salzburg + @AS and @DL and everybody else who contributed to that for organizing this surprise!🙂
The surprise went exactly as planned, and David really enjoyed it. It was a warm and cheerful moment that rounded off the event nicely 😀 🎉

We are looking forward to the next edition in 2026, which will take place from November 18-20, 2026!
