❓ How can we help startups showcase their products to their audiences?
Startups need communication tools to convey their purpose and to show how their product works in real life conditions to their audiences. By using 3DEXCITE tools, it is possible to create real-time 3D interactive experiences that showcase in a unique way how the systems work in contextual environments 🥽 The immersive visuals and interactions let the user explore and understand the product at their own pace, and also serve as a great support to the startup for pitching their project 👩🏫
This is what we did for the startup LiftLabs, accelerated by the 3DEXPERIENCE Lab since 2021. We created an experience to showcase their product and at the same time, demonstrate how the power of the platform can be leveraged to provide immersive and interactive 3D worlds 🌐
🦞 LiftLabs
🎣 Traditional trap pot fishing typically uses vertical ropes which connect gear on the seafloor to buoys at the surface, allowing fishermen to find and haul their catch. These systems pose a risk of entanglement for whales. Currently, less than 400 North Atlantic right whales are left, with 85% showing entanglement scars. This is the global issue that LiftLabs is tackling. The American startup is developing a ropeless trap retrieval system that prioritizes speed and efficiency for the fishermen's workday while leaving whales unharmed 🐋
💻 Desktop Experience
After discussing the startup to target their needs around communication, a first experience was made using the full power of the platform. It was implemented on Creative Experience after designing a storyboard on 3DWhiteboard, and by using the 3D model of the Lift made with Solidworks by the startup.
The experience tells the story of the product, illustrating step by step how to use it and briefly explaining some technical details. An important advantage here is that we can use the high quality environments from Planets Studio to see everything that happens above and underwater, which is difficult to film in real life 🌊
Potential customers and investors can better understand what's the difference with traditional fishing methods and see how it works from beginning to end, making them gain more trust in the startup's product. The position of the Lifts and traps underwater as well as the animation of them rising up to the water surface were carefully designed in order to be true to reality by our CATIA expert @SR 🔧
The visuals are accompanied with ambient sounds to enhance the immersion 🎧
🌍 Web Experience
Following this experience, a second one was made to be published on the Web. This would allow for anyone interested in the startup to play it on any device, as the first one can only run on the desktop application and requires a certain computer configuration.
Of course, an experience of the same quality cannot be hosted on the web because of the size of the environment and assets. Therefore, the second one was significantly simplified to allow a run smooth on the web media player. It is still under development as of now but you can get a sneak peek below. The 3DEXCITE team is also working on providing more support to Web publishing to improve the quality of these type of experiences.
The 3DEXPERIENCE Lab aims at providing more startups with 3D real time experiences to serve as communication and marketing tools, and also to showcase the power of the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform.
