🔧 Leading a Real Robotics Challenge – Mechanical Design of a Robot Dog 🐾

In just one intense week, I had the opportunity to lead and contribute to one of the most exciting mechanical projects I’ve worked on so far: building a 3D mechanical model and full assembly of the Freenove Robot Dog Kit for ESP32-WROVER CAM
(https://lnkd.in/eEYwKRJx)
– entirely built in SOLIDWORKS.
This wasn’t just about design – it was about collaboration, precision, and turning a robotic concept into a mechanically accurate reality.

🦿 My Role – Team Leader & Assembly Owner
As a Mechanical Engineering student and the Team Leader on this project:
_I worked closely with my teammates to divide and execute the mechanical design of the robot’s components
_I took full ownership of the entire 3D assembly, ensuring all parts were correctly aligned, constrained, and simulating realistic motion
_I delivered high-quality exploded views, renders, and documentation based on the Freenove kit’s physical layout
This project challenged our speed, accuracy, and ability to work as one unit under pressure.

🤖 About the Kit Freenove
The Freenove Robot Dog is a quadruped robotic kit powered by the ESP32-WROVER board, featuring:
12 servo motors (3 per leg)
Ultrasonic sensor, camera, buzzer, and RGB LEDs
Open-source wireless control and onboard camera streaming
Although I didn’t handle the coding side, my work was focused on faithfully recreating the robot’s mechanical design in a CAD environment.

🙌 Huge Thanks to the Team
I was incredibly lucky to work with such a committed and talented team: Menna Sherif & Mahmoud Sheha.
You both played a vital role in the success of this project. From designing detailed components to refining every millimeter of geometry, your work ethic and collaboration made this experience special.
It was an honor to lead this project alongside you — and I’m proud of what we achieved together.

📌 Final Reflection
This project reminded me how powerful engineering becomes when technical skill meets true teamwork.
Proud to have delivered a fully modeled, realistic robot assembly using SOLIDWORKS, built on the innovative platform by @Freenove.
Dassault Systèmes
Excited for what’s next — this is just the beginning. 🚀
